In a focal group, several members of the ICH team work together on a small-scale research project. As the members of the ICH team bring with them a considerable diversity in research experience and specialization, collaboration in a focal group allows exploring the field of health communication from various angles. The group assembles with the clear purpose of conducting a particular project and dissolves when the work is done, usually after 6 months. The purpose of a focal-group is to create new synergies and develop new research designs, contributing to a deeper understanding of the field. In the light of this consideration, publishing the results of the collaboration is the primary aim of a focal group.
